Getting Started
What This Is
Reindeer Gifts coordinates the Christmas gift exchange: gift lists, claims, and messages, in one place, built to stop purchases from doubling up and keep surprises intact.
Invite-Only
This site is private. Access comes by invitation, and an invitation is for the person it's given to, not for passing along to someone outside the exchange.
Your Account
An account represents one real participant, under their own name. If something's wrong with yours, or you can't get in, go through Support & Feedback.
Using the Site
Gift Lists
Build your own list: gift ideas, descriptions, images, links, requested quantities, and sections to organize it. What you put on it is your call, and your responsibility.
Keeping Gifts a Surprise
Claiming an item marks it as spoken for, so nobody buys the same thing twice. The one exception: whoever's list it is never sees claim information on their own items. That's the actual mechanism that keeps a surprise a surprise. Don't work around it by telling someone directly what's been claimed for them.
Messages and Comments
Comments and private messages exist for talking with each other: coordinating, asking questions, that kind of thing. Some of it can be posted anonymously; that doesn't loosen the standard anything else here is held to.
Sharing Content
Anything you post (descriptions, images, links, comments, messages) needs to fit the spirit of the exchange. The Rules below say exactly where that line is.
The Rules
Plainly stated, here's what's not allowed:
- No illegal content.
- No explicit, adult, or graphic content.
- No insults, harassment, or bullying.
- No impersonating another person.
- No spam, scams, or advertising unrelated to the gift exchange.
- No deliberately revealing someone's gift plans or claim information to them. Keeping the surprise is the whole point.
Breaking these gets content moderated or removed; doing it repeatedly can get an account suspended. If a decision seems wrong, say so via Support & Feedback.
Privacy & Data
The site stores what it needs to run: accounts, gift lists, messages, comments, claim history. It's built to protect surprises, but no system is airtight, so treat it accordingly.
All of it is temporary. The site resets after the season: accounts and everything attached to them get removed once Christmas is over.
About the Service
Free Service
No subscriptions, no purchases, no fees. It costs nothing to participate.
Keeping the Website Running
This is a personal project. Features change, maintenance happens sometimes, and uptime isn't guaranteed, though keeping it running is always the goal.
Maintaining a Good Experience
Breaking the rules, or otherwise making the exchange worse for everyone taking part, can get access restricted.
